Easy money is kind of a myth. There are people who make a living doing essentially nothing all day, but the ones who aren’t con artists, suffering serious disabilities or retirees were probably given a trust fund or otherwise lucked out in the lottery of life.
That said, there are “easier” ways to make money than what most of us do every day. You do not need to dig ditches for a living. You don’t need to work for minimum wage. Here are some things you should do so that you can make more money with less work.
Always Be on the Lookout for (Real) Opportunity
Whether you are running a business and see more potential in switching your line of products, or just working for some company, there’s always opportunity. When you hold down a job, there is always someone out there who will pay you more. Someone who will give you better benefits. Don’t settle down. Company loyalty doesn’t get you as far as ruthless self preservation.
Learn to Invest
Whether you have a hundred bucks a month to put aside to savings or a thousand, putting some money aside is the greatest favor you can do your future self. It is almost impossible to get rich quick, but if you start an investment account or a modest stock portfolio, you may be surprised how it adds up.
Settle Your Debts
If you have credit card debt or student loans eating away at your income, take the time to consolidate them and get rid of them. This ultimately means more money in your pocket at the end of the month.
Be Pragmatic and Ruthless
Okay, here’s where you actually start making money quickly and easily: be ruthlessly pragmatic when it comes to finances. When you see an opportunity to make some cash, take it. Some people who are, say, artists, might refuse to do a painting for cash because that’d be “selling out”. To heck with that. Whatever you have going for you, try to make money from it. Whatever opportunities are before you, seize them. It’s no fun to “still have you pride” when you’re eating instant noodles five nights a week.
